Rain Delays Corn Planting Week Ending May 8 1911
Heavy showers on April 30 and snow on May 1 followed by cold with freezes on May 2 and frosts on May 8 delayed corn planting for several days. The latter half of the week turned favorable and much planting occurred. Rains early in the week aided growth while grass and small grains advanced with rising temperatures. Plowing for corn nears completion and substantial planting is expected next week with soil in good condition. Fruit damage from frost appears minimal and crop prospects remain bright.
