Seniors Present Bachelor Hall at Armory in Comedy

A high school senior class stage production titled Bachelor Hall played at the Armory. The three act comedy follows congressman Geoffrey Myrtleton and his secret amateur production with subplots of lost papers a romance and an amateur detective. The cast includes Harry Hall G Calvin Ringgenberg Chas Meltzer Joe Eldredge E Jay Harris Fred Hultz Glenn Ufford Elizabeth Canady Norma Greer Constance Bird Ruth Curtiss and others. The performance drew over $200 in gross receipts with about $100 net, funding the class gift. Mrs. H F Clemmer directed with Hiatt assisting.

Fire Threatens Post Office During Saturday Incident

A careless smoker nearly triggered a major blaze at the post office Saturday while varnishing the lobby. Adalite fumes and a glass gasoline jar exploded, scorching woodwork and breaking window panes as staff evacuated and spectators watched. The fire was quickly controlled with no clear culprit identified.

The Associated Players Form Ames Theatrical Troupe

Bartholomew's Associated Players organize in Ames with twelve performers led by Charles E. Rummel. The group, headed by Rummel, includes Hiatt and the Kelley and Mayhall families, touring the airdome circuit through Missouri and Kansas starting June 5 in Moberly.

Burglars Busy on South Side

Sneak thieves have been troubling the south side for weeks. Saturday night a Mun Singers home was entered through an open window and valuables including Mr Munsinger’s watch glasses and a ladies watch silver ware worth about 150 dollars were taken. The dog barked and roused a response that halted the theft. Two other neighboring families report similar losses. Police vow to catch the culprits.

Student judging medals awarded at agricultural club meeting

At a meeting of the Agricultural club last Thursday evening the winners of stock judging and horticultural medals for the year were announced. Medals were awarded to F. F. Silver and B. B. Wilson, junior A. H. students, after Prof. McCall reviewed fruit judging contests. Gleaned rankings for freshman and Dinsmore honors followed, with scores led by A. A. Dowell and J. M. Dowell, among others. The article notes several team members now away on practical work and mentions future judging prospects and upcoming Marsh medal contest.

Ames and Simpson Tie for Second in Des Moines Glee Contest

The I S C girls glee club earned second place at Foster's in Des Moines last Friday. Ames performed unaccompanied while other groups used piano. Directors and costumes noted, with Ames earning credit for a harder repertoire and Mrs. Thompson praised for teamwork.

Veterans pass Philippine civil service exam seven senior students named

County Superintendents Meet Here Next Week

Iowa county superintendents will convene Monday through Wednesday at the college in a continuation of last week’s Des Moines meeting. They will discuss the new teacher certificate law and refer questions to Attorney General Cosson. The group will also review methods to advance agricultural extension work under head Prof. A V Storm.

Reorganize Gun Club Here Next Week

Fitzsimmons and Ventmeir will be in Ames next Wednesday to try and reorganize the Ames Gun club. There will be an afternoon shoot. The club has lain dormant despite a past thriving membership. May 12th invites Ames shooters to join the reorganization.

Reverend Walter I Fowle May Leave Baptist Church

Reverend Walter I Fowle will travel to Grand Island Nebraska on Sunday to preach at the Baptist church and evaluate a possible charge. Grand Island residents have pursued him for some time with a committee visiting locally and reporting favorable. A decision is expected in two to three weeks. The Grand Island church is among the state’s largest and links to Grand Island College.

Gasoline motor car passes through Ames en route to Michigan

A gasoline motor car built by Union Pacific passed through Ames on Tuesday morning, traveling from Omaha to Ann Arbor Michigan. It will be placed in suburban service of a railroad and draws crowds at each stop. Two large Oregon-Washington Railway engines were also sidelined nearby, drawing attention as the latest western models.

Milford Girl Breaks Leg in Fall

Miss Florence Campbell of Milford, daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Campbell, fell last week and broke both bones of her leg below the knee. The injury is painful but expected to heal with time and care.

Women May Vote At Ames School Election May 12
