Charles Pleshek night telegraph operator at the Northwestern station in Nevada learned his father had been run down by a freight train at Chelsea Iowa. He took the next train and arrived before his father died, as the elder was a section man at the scene.
A Brush Colorado dispatch claims a sensational death of Annie Gunn linked to the Gunn family in Ames Iowa. Investigators find no record that Dr George W Gunn or his alleged son and daughter resided in Ames. The tale alleging a Fort Morgan jail case and a 22 year old Ennis is deemed unlikely.
Sylvester A. Long presents a lecture titled Lightning and Toothpicks described as out of the ordinary in both topic and delivery. The reviewer notes Long's unique personality and genuine ability enhance the program, predicting it will be a standout feature.

The Boone and Story counties boards in joint session last Monday awarded drainage ditch number 2 to contractor John Oller of Boone for 400 dollars. The ditch starts in Boone county and enters Story just north of Ontario. Settlement was also made with contractor Sweet for part of drainage ditch number 1.
It is learned that Billy Leonard, once from Nevada, secretly married Miss Lessie Airhart of Nevada in Omaha last fall. They lived in Kansas City all winter, Billy claiming to visit his sister there before dying. Nevada folks learn the marriage, with both parties known to Ames people.
Samuel Worsing of Boone, veteran about sixty five, was struck by a car at Court and Fifth in Des Moines Friday and died at Mercy hospital at 5 30 pm. The remains were taken to Boone for funeral Monday at 4 pm. He leaves a wife and three children including Frank C pressman at the Ames Times.
Bill Black who recently turned state's evidence and served a short jail term was arraigned in police court after a fall from a grate. He received a sentence to an inebriate asylum in Knoxville and was transported to Nevada by the sheriff. It is hoped he reforms.
Pete English was arrested on intoxication charges and appeared before the mayor for a hearing. He was sentenced to 15 days in county jail, but the sentence was suspended and he was released on good behavior with the condition that the sentence would take effect if he misbehaves later.
