Local merchants urge early garment buyers with a boast about the best line of suits and coats in Ames. Store advertises early-season styles promising top quality and the most satisfaction. Shoppers are invited to view the new line today, with or without purchase.
Flower sale begins Friday at 9 a m offering artificial blooms in the show window. Shoppers can save on purchases with prices listed at 16c and 15c each.
Ellsworth groups list monthly meetings with venues at members homes and public halls. Diverse societies including Foreign Missionary, Daughters of the American Revolution, Catholic Altar Society, and Royal Neighbors set dates ranging from first to fourth Tuesdays or Thursdays, often meeting at members’ homes.
On Thursday March 25 at 2 p m the Lutheran Aid Society will meet at Martin Hricksons.
The fourth number of the Methodist lecture course the Thompson concert will be given April 9.
The conservatory of music at I. C. will hold another pupils recital on Thursday March 25. Everyone is invited.
The Millionaires enjoyed a dancing party last Thursday evening and welcomed several new members to the club.
The Women’s Missionary society of the Congregational church will hold its annual home missionary offering meeting at the church on Thursday March 25 at 3 p.m. This event invites members to participate and support mission work.
The Civic Improvement society will hold its regular meeting next Monday in the Mono club rooms. Meetings are now regularly the second and fourth Mondays of the month.
Mrs Marian Kilbourne Mrs Cunningham and the young ladies of hall will host next Saturday afternoon with the faculty ladies participating.
The Missionary society of M. E. meets Tuesday March 23 at the home of Mrs U S on Story street. Mrs D will have the lesson for the Social committee with Mrs Sawin and Mrs Hummel assisting.
Freshmen of Iowa State College hosted a social at Margaret Hall Gym on Saturday night. The event featured dancing and a crowded Wall area with many out of town guests staying through Monday.
The Nonpareil club met with Mrs. J. H. Williams yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Boyd read a paper on Electrical Conveniences for the Household and Mrs. Gibson spoke on Child Labor and its Regulations. Guests during social hour were Mrs. F. M. Coulter and Mrs. Robert Webster.
On March 6 under the Monday club in Boone Mrs. Marian H Kilbourne spoke on Italian art. The Boone press notes the address was well received. Kilbourne, known in Ames, has travel background related to the topic.

Tickets 35 cents, seats on sale March 22 at the College Book Store and Bosworth's drug store.
William L Perkins born Janesville Ohio May 7 1872 died at his Ames Iowa home March 9 1909 aged 36 years 10 months 2 days He moved with his family to Taylorville Illinois at age three then to Ames in 1883 where he lived until his death He became crippled early from spinal trouble and gradually grew weaker over the years

The Ames city council met in adjourned session to discuss a gas plant proposition. A Boone promoter offered a plan to pipe gas from Boone to Ames, but no action was taken. An ordinance was sent to Mr. Pratt in Chicago and he was invited to join adjourned session next Monday to finalize and submit the gas plant issue to a public vote.
Gus Leecing received word from his brother John W. Leecing in Denver of the death of Olive Leecing, five years old, Saturday at 9:30 p.m. from bronchitis, a sad bereavement for the family.
Harry Stillwell purchased 80 acres of Texas land and will reside there. He plans to raise onions exclusively on the new property.
G W Hoffman who bought the Dixon and Son ice business at the college has moved to Ames and will sell natural and crucial ice this summer. He will supply the demands of the fourth ward and deliver to any part of the city.
The Christian church hosts revival services led by Pastor Rev. J. T. Hous. The first three evenings draw congregants and continue through the week with sermons focusing on faith and renewal.
City resident Jr. J. S. Roup received a letter this week announcing that his son C. J. Roup has been elected professor of mathematics at the military school in Coronado California. This will please Ames friends of C. J.
