A farmer reported a serpent in a Grant township field while avoiding the summer heat. Martha Bryant sued for divorce and six thousand dollars alimony. the decree was denied and Bryant offered maintenance, which was refused. The couple’s status as residents of Grant township is noted.
Monday of last week Jerry Sexton, superintendent of all railway parks on the Northwestern line between Clinton and Council Bluffs, described efforts to spruce up park facilities with fresh landscaping and improvements.
Mrs Fronie Stoops of Nevada tried to cash a near check issued for advertising to be used as part payment for a piano from F O Evans Piano Co Des Moines. Banks refused without the presidents countersignature within twelve days.
In College Park Elmer Winters faced a court action for threatening two neighbors with a shotgun over a garden and a chicken house. The judge bound Winters over to the grand jury, noting possible temporary dementia from poor health as a possible explanation.

Miss Ethel McKinley of St Ansgar Iowa graduates from Iowa State College in 1905 to lead YWCA work in Atlanta Georgia. She will oversee programs among mill town workers including cotton factory girls and extend services to several Georgia sites. Her prior YWCA village settlement work in South Carolina enhances her qualifications.
Prof Newens of this city, a noted state and national speaker, will preach Sunday morning in the Christian church where he is a member. The church is expected to be crowded and all are welcome to attend.
Mr and Mrs Frank Rogers rejoice at the birth of a ten pound girl born Saturday morning.
