Work on New Road Bed Progressing Nicely
The Northwestern double tracks are being ballast with crushed stone at a rapid rate. About 100 miles laid. 250 miles remain this year. In five years the Iowa Iowa division will be ballasted across the state. Two stone crushers operate at Cedar Rapids and Le Grand, yielding 1500 to 1700 yards daily. Three gangs work Tama to Ogden, Tama to Le Grand, and Ames to Boone to Ogden, finishing this year. About 5,000 yards per mile are used for double track.

The Boone News-Republican reports Leone Shull fell from a ladder while painting at his uncle Jesse Shull’s home on Marshall Street. He struck the brick sidewalk, was treated by a doctor, and is recovering with the arm expected to be useless for several weeks but no internal injuries.

About 127 alumni and guests gathered at the Ames High School alumni senior banquet in the Methodist church dining room. The evening featured pink and green decorations, a four course banquet, class yells, songs, and a long program of toasts led by Thomas McCall. Keedick Pleads Guilty in Ames Store License Case
