Education Board Met Saturday in Des Moines
The state board of education met in Des Moines and handled routine business. Bids for the new gymnasium at I. S. C. were too high, all rejected, and plans were revised. The Schools Open After Winter Break In City High
City schools reopened Monday after a two week vacation. Teachers returned to work as classes resume in readin ritin and ritimetic. Jennes the science teacher had an appendicitis operation December 26. Miss Stoddard was ill briefly but is back. Susie Knudson from Nevada joins as assistant in German and English due to large enrollment. First semester ends this week with final exams next week.

Ames residents entered chickens in Gowrie on January 26. Partridge Wyandottes led by D. B. Shockley claimed second pen and second cockerel along with multiple place ribbons. White Rocks shown by L. M. Zumwalt captured first and fourth hens and other top finishes. J. R. Glidden earned multiple placings in White Wyandotte class plus a $10 silver cup on the first pullet.

Wes Bateman’s Delay From Eagle Grove Train Wreck
Wes Bateman, recently on his farm near Eagle Grove, faced a lengthy delay after a wreck at Woolstock blocked the south train to Jewell. With the south train gone at arrival, a freight to Ames finally brought him in, where he admitted he grew very fussy though he did not swear.

First Basketball of Season Opens Tour in Missouri

Foreigner Suffers Serious Accident in Northbound Work Car
