Parley Sheldon Named Iowa Delegate to Deep Waterway Convention
Mayor Parley Sheldon of Ames Iowa has been appointed as a delegate to represent Iowa at the Gulf to the Lakes Deep Waterway Association convention in Memphis Tennessee on October 4 and 5. The association spans eighteen central and southern states and pushes for Lakes to Gulf waterway facilities. The letter confirming the appointment is from W F Saunders Secreary to Sheldon. The past week averaged 3 to 4 degrees below normal with above average sunshine. Monday brought light to heavy showers in the north while most of the state remained dry and cool. Western districts need rain for crops and soil preparation. Oats yield weight is generally light, while winter and spring wheat and barley are fair in yield and quality. Corn progressed fairly well but growth was slowed by cool conditions. Pastures are good and meadows show strong aftermirth growth.
