Doctor Sues Over Temper Tantrum at Exchange Office

Miss Alice McKee, a night telephone operator in Cambridge, sues Dr. Hansen for 3000 dollars claiming damaged feelings after he cursed her and threatened to throw her from the office during a dispute at the exchange. The case follows an earlier incident where the doctor allegedly threw a man from the office window.

Burglar Captured After Dress Swap at Wing Home

Fred Reynolds, 23, broke into the Burt Wing farm east of town last Saturday. He shaved, ate, and dressed in the hired man’s clothes before fleeing toward Nevada, where two laborers and Kelley helped corner him. Reynolds was bound over to await grand jury action. Twelve Days for Vagrancy and Other Local News

Two hoboes named John Garey and James Keefe were sentenced to twelve days in jail for vagrancy while awaiting grand jury action on a breaking and entering charge. Italian laborers had accused them of stealing watches and revolvers from boarding cars. The men pled not guilty despite identification by Italians. Clyde Williams will coach Iowa State College football this fall, succeeding Shady Ristine. A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Hardy on Thursday, August 15. Mrs. M. L. Graham bought a corner lot to build a residence this fall. J. M. Dieffenbacher will exhibit vegetables at the state fair in Des Moines. Prof. M. P. Cleghorn and Mrs. Cleghorn have moved from the Miller cottage to the east Parker house after recent travels.

Vacation ends as Ames schools plan new year

Ames city schools set the opening Monday at 9 a.m. pupils return to their previous rooms with changes for residence. Welch building hosts Fourth Ward students. New texts adopted for grades 5 7 high school electives updated with revised civics physics and grammar. Seniors 41 pupils classed by credits. Miss Percy Watkins to supervise drawing and penmanship full time. Athletic eligibility requires prior grades and parental consent filings. Buildings upgraded including Watert lavatories and renovated high school interior. Parents urged to enroll five and six year olds and counsel teachers regularly.
