The two damage suits filed by Mrs M E Lisley and Mrs A Norden against Capt Albert Head of Jefferson, owner of the Iowa hotel in Des Moines, were settled out of court. The women, volunteers for the Volunteers of America, alleged he used profane language and laid hands on them while they solicited funds. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
