Twice Champ After It Again

Howard Adams, holder of the Ames Times silver gun club trophy twice, will shoot for the club championship next Tuesday at 1 00 pm. Seventeen members competed last time with close scores and twenty shooters are expected this month. The piece promotes local sport and invites spectators to watch. Prize Winners At Des Moines County Fair

Story County growers led by Mr. Osbourne of Maxwell captured the grand champion Sweepstakes prize for ten ears of corn, Reid's Yellow Dent, with high marks for the district ribbon. Story City exhibitors claimed top butter honors with L. C. Peterson scoring 97 1 2, and C. T. Knudson tallied 93 4 for creamery butter. John Donhowe showcased Shetland ponies amid strong crowd interest, while Rosenfield and Siverly of Kelly swept Aberdeen Angus cattle honors, including a yearling steer grand champion. Other county winners included S. P. Freed and Woodland Duroc Jerseys with multiple fourth prizes for Manley Orion and the yearling. An unrelated tale follows of a summer girl delaying a fast train to transport a bull pup named Nibsy, reflecting public amusement and controversy.

Damage suit settled against Capt Albert Head owner of Iowa hotel

The two damage suits filed by Mrs M E Lisley and Mrs A Norden against Capt Albert Head of Jefferson, owner of the Iowa hotel in Des Moines, were settled out of court. The women, volunteers for the Volunteers of America, alleged he used profane language and laid hands on them while they solicited funds. Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
