Ames residents engage in social visits, college enrollments, and church activity while Mrs. Jennie Thompson dies after a brief illness. The funeral draws Knights of Pythias attendance and remarks from Rev. Douglass and Rev. Everly. Relatives travel from Illinois, Nebraska and Iowa to mourn, with Mrs Thompson remembered for Christian faith and family devotion.
The Andrews Opera Company will present The Mikado at the opera hall tomorrow night inviting the public to attend and enjoy the performance.
Ewma Hunter 28, wife of Manford Hunter, died February 23 after puerperal fever at their farm east of Gilbert. Born March 1, 1866 in Story county to William Arrasmith, she married in 1890 and joined the Christian church in 1889. Funeral at the Christian church Ames conducted by Rev. Hester, burial in Ames Cemetery. many country friends attended.
The North Western Fence Company expects to load and ship six cars of popular fence by Saturday night. four cars have already gone. The jury in State vs Geo Shockley, after 24 hours deliberation, disagreed and was discharged this morning. George is entangled with L J Tiernagel amid strong local feeling against him. Knights of Pythias lodge records express sympathy to Thomas Thompson on the death of his wife. The resolution notes she was a loving mother and respected neighbor, and requests publication in the Ames Intelligencer and Ames Times. Committee signatures include L. G. Hardin Fower and B. J. Shelden.
The undersigned express heartfelt gratitude for the attentions and tender kindnesses shown by friends in Ames during the illness death and burial of their wife and mother. They sincerely thank everyone and wish others may receive similar support in sorrow.
