Amos Hanson visited Ames on business on Saturday and A H McNall was a Clipper visitor Monday. Albert runs for county recorder. Young faces grand larceny indictment and jail escape attempt. Sheriff Ashford cares for him but the motive remains unclear. Calisthenics class drills under Prof Lyons. Charles Mead dies at Nevada after stock dealings yield fortune. funeral held at M P church. Maxwell hosts union meeting for Story and Polk counties. Plans for a canning factory and a brick yard in Maxwell progress. Miss Eva Kerr of Ames visited with Mrs. F. P. Bryant Tuesday. Mrs. Hatteberg near Kelley is very ill with doubtful recovery. The Johnson home was relieved from quarantine last Friday and A. M. Johnson was downtown Saturday. Heine Johnson left Oley Nelson and moved to a farm near Kelley this week. The city loses a worthy family and hopes they visit again.
Mrs. J A King is seriously ill this week. Mr Otis Briggs at Kalamazoo Michigan expects to return home soon for health. R Hunter of Franklin township moves to Wall Lake Iowa to make his future home after years on the farm. Orren Lake had eye surgery at Marshalltown and shows improvement. Look out for sneak thieves reported citywide. New families from Illinois and east arrive, farm owners well to do and welcome to the county. A B Edgecomb former resident died at Cook County Insane Asylum aged 64, wife survives.
Friday and Saturday exams were held at Sept Reed's office for Nevada Representative Forty teachers. A surprise party honored Mrs A W Fry at her father's home by friends. Mr and Mrs Fry plan to move to the se farm in Washington town soon. Georgia Warrick returned to Des Moines to resume school work after illness. The school board will provide extra help for her as principal. Mr and Mrs A K Banks hosted a large party for Mrs K's birthday. Robert Gregg and Cassie Duff were married Sunday evening at the Presbyterian church by Rev Hugh Jack after the congregation dismissed.
Hipshire of Ames was a caller at this office on Tuesday. Mrs H F Murphy who has been visiting with her daughter Mrs W Armstrong returned to Nevada. James Keeney and Laura Frazier of Zearing married in Nevada on Friday Feb 23. Dan Walton received a surprise gathering last Saturday as about 40 neighbors visited at 8 St. Davis’ with baskets and gifts for their move to Winea county. Silver presents were given in goodwill for their new home.
Mrs B. Woodhouse and her children arrived back in Maxwell last Friday after an extended visit in California. The group enjoyed their travels and will resume routine at home.
