Falling Platform Crushes Two Negro Truckmen
Two Americas Grocery Company truckmen, John Jones and Charlie Floyd, were crushed when a cotton platform at the 8 A M compress collapsed on marshy ground. Rescue crews freed them after removing heavy timbers and cotton bales. both suffered severe injuries but were not deemed fatally hurt. They were taken to their homes on Lee Street for treatment by Drs. Hawkins and Brooks.
