A general alarm sounded in Macon at 8 PM for a fire inside the English and Huguenin cotton compress. Dense smoke issued from the pressroom as a large quantity of cotton burnt. firefighters contained the blaze and saved the building and much cotton with an estimated loss not exceeding 1000 dollars.
Dawson mourns the departure of Prof W H Allen and family after twelve years of service. He taught ten years at the high school while Mrs Allen ran and rebuilt the hotel boosting patronage.
