An assortment of town happenings includes delays for a brokerage note, a forthcoming bank display, and a weekly auction of mules and horses. Social visits, barbecues, balloon stunts, court hearings, and alliance meetings fill the plate as residents anticipate road work, new partnerships, and exhibitions in nearby towns.
Savannah Thimes reports mixed signals from Central railroad officials on grading seven miles of road bed west from Eden beyond the Ogeechee river. A bridge for the Ogeechee was ordered and new rails purchased. a possible Americus road may not be built, with action possibly before July as financiers reassess plans amid regional railway expansion talks.
An ad promotes Syrup of Figs as Nature s own laxative and the easiest effective remedy to cleanse the system. Official proceedings report a busy Americus council meeting on March 1 with mayor pro tem Williams and several aldermen present. Actions include granting a permit to Mrs Rowland to erect a wooden building, assigning fire districts and bell signals, authorizing lamp removal and hose squad setup, and deferring printer election. Finance and street committees receive several referrals, and bills totaling a few dollars are approved. An obituary notes John Winn, a one armed Confederate veteran, died after a hunting trip and was buried near Concord Church.
H Hawkins, president of the Savannah Americus and Montgomery railroad, visited Savannah to discuss extending the line to the city. He noted contracts for Abbeville to McRae and an Ocmulgee river bridge are awarded, pledging a 100 mile link from McRae. He estimated completion to Montgomery within a year and urged local support.

The Masons of Americus once flourished in a brick corner building at Forest and Lamar, burned, then displaced. Calvin Carter & Son will convert the upper floor for their use, adding partitions gas and water and carpet to match city rooms. The lodge is improving rapidly and may set a high standard among local rooms.
An old advertisement promotes Advics as a teething remedy for children. It claims to soften the gums, relieve wind colic, and provide soothing relief. The ad touts a price of twenty cents per bottle and urges mothers to use this product for their infants.
An Atlanta Drummer recounts R. Don McLeod Florida Tallahassean praise of Americus. He notes six thousand residents, new brick and stone buildings, railroads planned or under way, gas and water works, a dummy railway along principal streets, and a busy, prosperous center of trade drawing from nearby counties. He also recalls old names still seen, friendly competition with the Daily Republic, and a thriving local business scene.

Hose squad organized in Taylor Street with Paul Bonworth as foreman and A Rylander as assistant foreman.
