Dawson Busy Dawson Welcomes Presbyterians Builds New Church
In Dawson on March 20 Reverend W W Brimm organized a Presbyterian church with seventeen members, elected Judge Jas H Laing as elder, and began fundraising over 1000 dollars for a new church on Stonewall Street donated by the county. Community leaders and local women supported efforts amid a town boom with plans for three new churches within a year while a fire destroyed a W E Pordan barn and a Riordan property on the north side. The Columbus Southern railroad moves toward Richland with trains to Albany by November. Elgin Telephone lines are expanding. Dawson hosts a May Alliance meeting and a bustling business scene with new offices and a crowded market.

Louvale Locals Report Spring Health But Mr Johnston Ill
Louvale March 20. Local notes say health is generally good with few exceptions. Samuel Johnston is very ill after a chill near Hanna hatchie creek last Thursday. Doctors including Dr. W W Peek are summoned for inflammation. Mrs. Peek had a scare when the Dr's sulky horse ran away, throwing her but causing no serious harm. Other local residents are mentioned in lively community updates with visits and a recent fishing party.

Handwriting on the Wall Views South Iron Battle
The Baltimore Manufacturers Record argues the South will dominate iron, citing Glendon Iron Co. of Easton Pa as a cautionary example of wage cuts and retrenchment. It warns Northern mills face decline as Southern and Western iron flood the market, forcing hard choices to keep operations running. It compares a wall of inevitability to the Glendon letter, detailing losses, pay curtailments, and the strain on workers while highlighting the broader industrial shift.
