Cotton bagging factory planned for Sumter County Alliance site
The Sumter County Alliance builds a brick one story cotton bagging factory on a fourteen acre Leeton tract near the S. A. M. Railway line. Plans show two main rooms the lapper and operating, a 65 foot chimney, fireproof walls, ample light and ventilation, and a daily capacity of two thousand yards. The plant aims to employ workers housed nearby as operations begin.

Farmers demand six month public schools in Georgia
At a State Agricultural Society meeting a resolution urged a six month public school system with fair taxation. It argued current schooling is sparse, drives farmers to towns, weakens rural life, and hampers agriculture. The next legislature should enact stronger, efficient schools. Separately notes Hood's Sarsaparilla ad and Iowa saloon closures following a law.

Public debt trends and political economy insights
The article surveys state and federal debt figures from 1880 to 1890, noting declines in state bonded debt and rising floating debt, with detailed totals for the general government, cash on hand, and holdings. It cites a Washington report on tariff politics, Georgia school commissioner candidacies, Kansas protection views, and varied public notices, including an Auburn prison execution comment and a house incident. It ends with a testimonial for Smith's Tonic Syrup about chills and fever.
