Democrats Mass Meeting and Prisoner Escape in Terrell
In Terrell county a mass Democratic meeting drew nearly all white voters to the courthouse and then yard before moving to the opera house for speeches by Col. Hoyl and others. Edwards won the senatorial ballot by 85 votes. delegates were chosen for Fort Gaines. Three colored prisoners escaped from the Terrell jail after a door was left unlocked, while the community noted deaths, resignations, and local visits amid a period of hot weather and rain.
