London reports renewed British assault along a wide front in the Ypres region this morning with home progress described.
Royal Daniel editor of the Quitman Free Press and former telegraph editor of the Atlanta Journal has volunteered for Red Cross work. He is appointed field secretary for south Georgia covering about 50 counties from Savannah to Americus. He will visit each chapter every one to two months and give speeches, aided by a Ford runabout donated by Henry Ford. Mrs. Daniel will assist him in his duties.
About four to five thousand sun perch from government fisheries arrived in Americus and were distributed by County Game Warden McMath to applicants. The fish will go into Council’s mill pond and private ponds of Jease Salter at New Point and C. M. Ranew on the Ellaville road, with expectations they thrive and multiply well.
A War Department telegram to Governor Dorsey ends doubts about orders to report for duty. Local boards must send select men to camp for training, making exemptions unavailable. Harold McKenzie and others will report to Camp Gordon tomorrow, with about 2200 suspended cases statewide affected.
Mrs Hope Folhill of Macon widow of Hope Polhill prominent attorney and former solicitor general opens the Atlanta theatre season in Cheating Cheaters under Louis Haase management. Sister of Prof A W Van Hoose and Ellison Van Hoose she has stage success in Shakespearean roles and is well known in Atlanta Macon Athens Gainesville and other Georgia cities.
A pamphlet on Americus and Sumter county by P. A. Fennimore, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, is set to become a school textbook. Superintendent J. E. Mathis endorses its value, noting its comprehensive data on local industries, resources, and commercial activity.
George B. Tucker, 22, a farmer living fifteen miles from Americus, died at 5:38 AM after a mosquito bite above the ankle four weeks earlier caused acute blood poisoning. He joined Americus Camp 202 Woodmen of the World the week before illness. Survived by parents Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Tucker, five brothers and one sister. Funeral at Pleasant Grove Methodist church tomorrow at 3:30 PM conducted by Rev. Moore.

Washington Sept 26 The Shipping Board announced that within a little over a year the United States will have a merchant fleet of sixteen hundred ships totaling more than nine million tons This will considerably overbalance the losses from u boats during that period.
James E. Ferguson was formally removed as governor of Texas and barred from holding any public office of honor trust or profit by the senate impeachment court. The majority report was adopted 25 to 3 with one party and one absent, after a minority recommendation for removal only failed.
