Chiago Sept 26 The tug J G Dorr bound from Michigan City to Chicago was abandoned as waves swamped her. Captain Peterson and three crewmen manned a scow tow, transferred to it, drifted toward shore, and leaped into the surf at midnight landing 22 miles west of Michigan City. They spent the night in the woods awaiting rescue.
