Armstead Dodson of Plains reported a barn fire on his son D Plemon Dodson’s farm three miles north of Plains. The 1 am blaze destroyed two valuable mules a riding horse feed and implements. no insurance. A $150 reward was offered for the arrest and conviction of the arsonists.
Deschanel plans resignation after doctor’s advice as France faces parliament convocation. The Paris Echo cites the move ahead of the national assembly meeting at Versailles on September 25 to select a successor to President Deschanel. Premier Millerand and senate leaders prepare to discuss convoking parliament.
MEMPHIS September 16 Little Rock wins over Nashville to seal the Southern Association pennant. The Travelers stand 87–57 with three games left. New Orleans sits second at 83–61 and may play two more. If Little Rock loses all remaining games their final percentage would be .592, while New Orleans could rise to .501 with five more wins. This will be Little Rock’s first pennant.
