Harry Kettler aged 27 shot his wife and mother in law then opened fire on pursuing officers. Police called for reinforcements from St Louis as a gun battle continued. Two officers were seriously wounded as the siege left the wife’s body in the front yard. Ket tler had a cache of ammunition and fought from the house while police sheltered behind trees.

Funeral services for Mrs Narcis Duckworth
Mrs Narcis Duckworth aged 73 died Saturday at 3 PM after a short illness at the family residence in Shiloh. Funeral services were held Sunday at noon from Shiloh community church with a large gathering of friends and relatives. Interment followed in Shiloh cemetery. She is survived by three sons Robert Braswell Thomas Braswell and George Braswell, all of Sumter county. She was a long time resident of the Shiloh community and well known in Sumter county circles.
