Hawkins Loses Prize Boar Orion Sensation at Southeastern Fair
Orion Sensation, a top Sumter County hog, owned by C. C. Hawkins and Sons, died after overheating on a Macon Atlanta shipping leg during the Southeastern Fair. The boar, once valued at 1500 and purchased for 350 as a pig, was a Nebraska find after a long search. Hawkins entries won 220 in prizes despite losing five hogs, and a pig sired by Orion won Grand Champion in Atlanta.

One Killed as Truck Crash in Coral Gables

Army fliers die in Martin bomber crash near Cape May

Prominent Sumter Farmer Stricken By Paralysis
S. F. Halstead a well known Sumter county farmer aged 69 and resident for over 35 years eight miles from Americus near Myrtle Springs was struck by paralysis late Monday afternoon. At press time reports from his bedside said he had not yet regained consciousness.
