J H H Faust cashier of the First National bank of Salisbury is overdrawn by 16000 dollars. He was arrested as he left the bank. He has turned over personal property to cover the shortage. W C Blickmer elected to replace him. Faust, long a Salisbury leader, resigned amid a church and social prominence. The shortage is linked to losses in southwest Virginia property.

Eugene Salter a young farmer was arrested six miles west of Amoricus on a warrant charging him with seduction of Miss Collum. He waived commitment trial, posted $500 bond, and will appear at the next superior court term. Capt. Bell and M. G. Logan became his sureties. The girl’s father took her home. Salter denies the charges and seeks to avoid exposure.
