Five negroes stole four bales of cotton at Zeke Bryant’s gunnery five miles southeast of Bruxpivae Alabama. Two carried cotton to Louisville and attempted sale. Bryants’ warehouse cotton linked this crime. Pegged Aperiette Allen and two of his sons arrested. $80 recovered. The culprits tried to burn the gin to destroy evidence but rain soaked the cotton, limiting the fire.
