Fire devastates Clarksville tobacco warehouse district
A large fire in Clarksville Tennessee at 1 30 a m destroyed the Grange Tobacco warehouse the Louisville and Nashville freight depots and several tenement houses. Loss estimated at 500000 with tobacco losses around 450000. Fire suspected incendiary origin. damages spread over five acres with six freight cars and the Gracey coal shed destroyed. Grange warehouse was the world’s largest tobacco storage facility built for 65000. Insurance limited.
