Police report a coordinated raid across Lawrence Mass Chicago and St Paul with a NY diamond heist. Three men robbed Wood Mill pay master George Alexander and a trunk containing jewels valued at 150000. Robbers escaped with over 300000 across multiple cities in what officials call a mass theft.
In St Paul on October 3 three robbers held up the New Diamond merchant and seven other customers at Jagerberg Jewelry Store, escaping with jewelry valued at more than 150000 dollars. Police searched for the trio as investigators reviewed the incident and assessed potential suspects and motives.
Newport October 3 The entire fleet under Rear Admiral Christy has suspended operations for the day to recover crew from the sunken S-51 due to rough weather and heads to port. On board the Camden October 3 divers recovered the fifty body identified as Paul D. Berk engineman second class from Shoemakersville Pennsylvania.
Jackson Tennessee October 3 The jury in the trial of T B Carroll former cashier and J M Carroll former assistant cashier of the People s Savings Bank of Jackson charged with irregularities leading to the bank closing June 5 reported to Judge Richardson that it could not reach a verdict. The jury was discharged and a mistrial entered.
In Richmond Virginia on October 3 a Chesapeake and Ohio tunnel collapse at Churchill trapped over twenty workers. Engineer Tom Mason is believed dead and six Black laborers remain missing. Most men escaped the cave-in and crawled to safety. authorities say little hope remains for those still trapped.
A one million dollar shoe factory within Fort Leavenworth will begin producing boots for the army navy and federal institutions next January. Superintendent Warren F Goldwaite heads the project which will employ 700 convicts and train them in a trade while contributing to family support and a future fund. The plant aims for 2500 to 3000 pairs daily at full capacity with profits to the government and plans for additional government footwear work and a separate workshop later.
A. B Childs his wife and their 14 year old daughter Helen all of Albany and Mrs Helen Riddle of Kansas City were badly injured and F H Sparling of Los Angeles received minor injuries when the automobile they were riding in turned over near Moultrie this morning.
H. M. McIntosh editor and publisher of the Albany Herald died suddenly at home in Albany on Oct 3. He was 73, long one of the state’s best known newspaper men, born in Thomas county and longtime Albany resident. Survived by wife, son H. T. McIntosh, and granddaughter Mrs. George Nalls. Funeral arrangements pending.
Atlanta Oct 3 The Georgia Supreme Court will rule on the new inheritance tax law after Assistant Attorney General Thomas R. Gress concluded it does not repeal the old law. He said the 1925 act stands and tax collection would apply only to residents, not non residents.
Connie Mack aged 62 of the Philadelphia Athletics is the oldest major league manager by years of service. He also holds the record for most world titles and led a team that finished last more often than any other club.
Elihu Root warned that controversies and quarrels between nations are certain, and a mere agreement not to have these events happen is futile. He presented a paper on codification of international law at the Inter-Parliamentary Unions conference in Washington.

Military machinery to call Colonel William Mitchell to account for his statements on San Antonio remarks will be set in motion next Monday. There is strong prospect he will face a court martial within ten days to two weeks in Washington.
Four young teachers, college graduates, depart Sumter for Adel Georgia to teach in Cook county schools. Miss Berta Holman and Lucille Kinard of Leslie join Mr Hugh Gibson and Miss Montgomery of Plains. They were recommended by Col J E D Shipp to Hon J C Thomas county school commissioner, who sought Sumter teachers for efficiency.
W B Cole testifies at Richmond County Court House that he killed W B Ormond to protect his home and family and to stop him from harming them. Clyde Hoey questions Cole as prosecutors seek to prove motive beyond self defense.
Mrs. Charles P. Davis of Americus accepted as matron and Miss Ira Gatewood of the city as maid of honor on the Western Brigade Georgia Division staff for the Georgia state reunion in Albany on October 14 and 15, 1925. Other Albany entries include maids Nannelee Ellerbee and Mary L. Aycock, chaperon Mrs. B. P. Smith, sponsor Ruth Evans of Fort Valley, and honorary staff from Albany and Spenser and nearby areas.
