Four masked men wrecked the Farmers bank of Emden Illinois early today and stole 3000 to 4000 dollars. A citizen bound and dragged into the bank witnessed the drilling of the vault as the fuse lit. Night Patrolman Sanford was mortally wounded attempting arrest after a second blast. The robbers fled toward Delavan by hand car, train search unsuccessful. Bank building wrecked and vault ruined.
