The May term began with Judge Z A Litlejohn presiding and Jule Felton for the state. Grand jury members were selected and Shiver elected foreman. Most of the morning dealt with divorce cases, several disposed of before adjournment.
In Fort Meyers Florida on May 26 a mob killed two young Black men identified as suspects in the assault of two white girls. The victims, both about 20, were seized from officers, shot, and their bodies dragged through the streets as news of the crime spread. The two white female victims are reported to be in serious condition.
The state democratic executive committee will meet in Atlanta on Wednesday May 28 to adopt rules for the fall state primaries. The body includes 26 men and 12 women at large and 5 men and 2 women from each of the 12 congressional districts. September 10 is expected as the primary date.
Montezuma May 26. Will McInvale an 18 year old Macon County youth sustained a crushed chest and other injuries when the auto in which he rode Thursday morning turned over near Ideal. The driver Will Davis was uninjured.
Washington May 26 The tax reduction bill, months in the making, clears final stages in the house after senate approval. It will go to the White House within hours for President Coolidge to sign amid treasury opposition and expected intense advocacy from both sides before decision.

Central of Georgia freight No. 71 bound from Albany to Macon derailed Saturday evening near Eagle Pond, 13 miles from Americus. Six cars left the track and line was blocked until 2:50 a m Sunday morning, delaying fast trains by about two hours. No injuries reported and cause under investigation.
Grand Rapids Mich May 26 The Presbyterian General Assembly in session here today unanimously adopted a resolution pledging itself to the outlawing of war and to the hastening of the day when nations shall lean to war no more.
Charles Grace and Allen Edwards were released on bond after being arrested in a hold up near Rome last week. They allegedly stopped Henry Brown, a rum runner, on Cave Springs road and confiscated his car and twenty five cases of liquor while claiming to be federal officers.
W. S. Sims known as Fete Sims died Sunday night at his brother Henry Sims home near Frinedship Schley County after a stroke of paralysis. A farmer and saw mill man about 53, he had worked for Smith Burgin Lumber Co. Known for high character, he left many friends saddened by his sudden death. Funeral details had not yet been announced in Americas early edition.
Dublin May 26 The port was completely idle today after an unexpected strike by dock workers. The stoppage follows the arrest of forty five followers of James Larkin during a raid on Liberty Hall by Free State troops. Workers gathered at the docks to discuss the raid and its implications.
Sumter farmer John Wooten near Americus reports a rapid dewberry harvest. He sold four quarts, then ten more, then forty, and finally a total of one hundred quarts this morning. He notes low maintenance and minimal fertilization required, with an acre of berries deemed highly profitable.

William Hardwick, an elderly man, goes to trial for his life in Brunswick on charges tied to the death of Martin Bunkley. His indictment follows the conviction of Frank Cohen for the same murder, with Hardwick accused of being present at the slaying near Christmas.
A joint gathering of Americus Rotary Kiwanis and Lions clubs will convene Tuesday at 1 pm in the community house at the Playground. President J Ralston Cargill and the Playground association directors will present a resume of activities and outline the program and costs to sustain the playground including the swimming pool. The meeting marks Cargill final address as Playground head before his planned resignation.

He approved the measure to place the act on the books while preparing a statement disapproving Congress for not delaying the July 1 exclusion date. Warlike rhetoric and ex service men in Tokio pledge loyalty to the fatherland frame the broader wartime mood.
Ten thousand Japanese former service men now reservists joined an anti-exclusion demonstration at the national military shrine in Tokio.
