Booker T. Washington addressed the future of African Americans at a Metropolitan AME event in Washington on May 24. He argued against repealing the Fifteenth Amendment, urging equality of opportunity and warning that denying a black citizen the ballot undermines government principles and risks white political power.

Calvin Kimblern, a Black man who fatally shot two white girls and wounded his wife, was captured in Denver and brought to Colorado Springs.
