Washington May 14 Commissioner Evans initiates methods to reduce unnecessary work in the Pension Bureau. New procedures cut nonessential papers, abolish duplicate records, and streamline filing and receipts. Adjudicating divisions to report on case handling. more efficiency promised.
A private telegram reports Greek forces have abandoned Almyros, with 1,500 Turks holding the area and General Smolenski retreating toward Colonel Vassos. The Athena garrison, led by Limbrici and Paes, moved to the frost line, while Greek positions at Domoskoa appear abandoned.
Reports describe an onboard pursuit after the killing of a Native man named Ahvote by two Pintes, with Sheriff Roseberg leading a search along the Colorado River corridor. The assailants fled toward Pahrump or Vanderbilt as authorities promise pursuit and capture.
Roland Reed sues the Southern Railroad for 10000 for injuries from a wreck at Scotland Georgia in February 1695. Miss Isadore Rush and Mrs Myers have related suits pending, awaiting Reed case outcome. Reed testified, denying telegrams about Scotland wreck conditions as untrue to spare relatives distress. Rush testified briefly about injuries.
