A Washington letter from Staniteville D C aged 50 with 25 years of practice commends Johnson's Chill and Fever Tonic. The writer, a careful observer, asserts it is one of the best combination remedies for chills and fever, noting it corrects vitiated liver secretions, relieves constipation, and promotes digestion and nutrient assimilation.
The advertisement proclaims Johnson's Chill and Fever Tonic as superior to all other fever remedies. It touts bright eyes clear skin and strong appetite as signs of cure, claims liver improves, and attacks counterfeiters imitating the product. It urges fever sufferers to use Johnson's Tonic and recommends continued use for those well.
President McKinley arrives in San Francisco with cabinet members for a grand coastal visit. Half a million spectators expected as regiments and veterans escort the procession through principal streets. Mrs McKinley illness may alter plans. public reception at the Grand Nave and a week of social events loom, with governors Geer Gage Nash present and warships Iowa Wisconsin Philadelphia Farragut in attendance.

They propose 15 million taels annually in monthly installments until the sum is met, with no mention of interest. The United States status notes a Hague examination and maritime tensions continue.

Jacksonville, Fla May 9 The city works to clear debris and restore traffic as tents rise and structures are rebuilt bigger and stronger. Relief committees feed thousands, while mules operate the trailer system and plans include bulkheads on the river. Masonry leaders appeal for aid to distressed Jacksonville Masons, urging Georgia Masons to contribute.
May 15 report states not more than five lives were lost in the steamer City of Paducah wreck at Brankhorst Landing Illinois. One white fireman remains unaccounted for but may turn up. The seven listed missing earlier all escaped, including George E King who returned home. Officials list Mable Gardiner as a dead passenger and a fireman among the dead with names partially unreadable.
Albany May 15 Troops from the Tenth battalion dispersed a jeering mob at the Traction company plant after police withdrew as the National Guard established a picket line. A derailment on the New York bridge caused a near-tragedy as the Twenty third infantry unit arrived. Military strength will total about 4700 with reinforcements from Troy and nearby cities. Adjutant General Hoffman collapsed during talks with Major General Roe.
