Epwandsville Ala May 12 D B Burgess a former US deputy marshal was shot five times and killed by Town Marshal A O Sorrells. A past feud framed the motive as Sorrells had previously worked for Burgess and disputes over pay. Burgess fled to a saloon to fetch a gun. Sorrells fired at him at the door and again as he ran toward the courthouse.
