Freckles Barry and Larry Lemon star in a benefit at Rylander Theatre May 12 and 13 to raise funds for Confederate veterans. Ten reels of wholesome pictures, music, and readings will be offered with tickets 50 cents adults 25 cents children. Proceeds support a reunion trip to Richmond on June 20.

Colquitt to Ship Her First Car of Peaches
MOULTRIE May 6 The first solid car of peaches ever shipped from Colquitt county will go forward within a few weeks. It was only a few years ago that any peaches were grown commercially around Moultrie, seen as too far south. County Agent Stratford persuaded many farmers to plant house orchards, and they have expanded to sizable peach orchards in the area.

Faculty and student die in university treasurer’s office shooting
In Columbia South Carolina on May 6 Prof. M Goode Holmes of the University of South Carolina faculty and Ben Haile a university student were shot dead in the treasurer’s office. W T Holland a junior law student heard the gunfire and found the bodies. a pistol lay near Haile. Coroner Scott indicated Haile, possibly temporarily insane, shot Holmes and then killed himself before the inquest.

Davison of Morgan dies during tumor operation
Henry P. Davison of J. P. Morgan & Company died on the operating table around 1 30 this afternoon during a second operation to remove a tumor pressing on the auditory nerve. Born in Troy New York he rose from bank teller to president in eight years and held multiple top posts, including chairing the Red Cross war council and serving as a trustee and treasurer for major cultural and financial institutions. Davison was 58 or 59 at death.
