Libel Suit Filed Against Editor in Saint Louis Paper

Nasuvite May 5. Attorney E B Stahlman who collected the celebrated Methodist war claim sues Rev W B Palmer editor of the St Louis Christian Advocate for $50 000 for libel. Palmer has written caustic editorials about Stahlman and others connected with the claim. Streit Sabian threatens further suits against editors and individuals who attacked Stahlman.

Daughters Adjourn as Beauvoir Sale Question Lingers

The United Daughters of the Confederacy meeting in Jackson, Mississippi adjourned after three days without action on Mrs Jefferson Davis offer to sell the Beauvoir homestead for 25000. Montgomery Alabama May 5 The house of representatives passed a bill repealing the act calling a constitutional convention by a 60 to 33 vote. The bill is expected to pass the senate 20 to 10. A caucus with Populists discussed defeating the repeal to gain future convention delegates, but the Populists declined amid questions over the extra session’s authority.
