Rubber balloon travels 600 miles from New Orleans to Georgia
A rubber toy balloon launched from City Park New Orleans at 6 15 Sunday afternoon drifted southwest with winds and was found 12 miles north of Moultrie in Colquitt County Monday by J O Stewart police chief. The tag bore Donald G Reeves 542 Rampart Street New Orleans and a note wishing for a pretty finder. Officers, who had just raided a nearby still, noted the balloon resembled a bomb until it proved harmless. The ride exceeded 600 miles in about 15 hours and followed a strong southwest wind.
