Georgia federal courts created for Athens division

A Washington dispatch reports the eastern division of the northern district of Georgia has passed both houses. It includes Banks Clarke Franklin Greene Habersham Hart Jackson Morgan Madison Oglethorpe Oconee Walton Rabun White and Elbert counties. Two terms of the district and circuit courts will be held yearly at Athens on the third Monday in April and the first Monday in November. The measure also provides for a public building in Athens.

Smashers Fired Up In Robbery Mob At Curtis Liquor House

A mob of about 180 masked citizens raided Curtis wholesale liquor on West Curtis street. J A Adams, a carpenter, was shot twice and left in a hospital with a precarious condition. Dr J B Mitchell and Rev F W Emerson were arrested for leading the mob. Officers claimed Adams was shot by the crowd. Adams said he was shot by police. The crowd ransacked 30 cases and two kegs of beer before officers arrived. Carrie Nation was released and headed to Pretoria to edit the Peoria Journal for one day. The U S House and Senate moved on unrelated measures, while American sheet mills announced a price advance.
