Chicago dispatch reports a heat wave and storms across the Mississippi and Ohio valleys causing at least seventeen deaths in Ohio and Illinois plus extensive damage exceeding three million dollars. Chicago suffered prostrations and reports of heat bitten dogs amid violent windstorms aiding relief efforts.
Three people died when a car plunged over an embankment into Fowl River eighteen miles south of Mobile early today. The victims are Mrs. Fannie Arnett age 45, her son Stein age 11, and Marguerite Bosarge age 7.
Macon June 21 Columbus Ga was awarded the 1925 convention of the State Baptist Young People's Union at the Grand Theater closing session. Dates are June 16 to 18 1925. Carlton W Binns of Atlanta was re elected president Dr H D Johnson of Valdosta was chosen vice president Miss Elizabeth Garner of Sandersville was re elected secretary and treasurer. Portland Mo June 21 State Senator Ralph O Brewster conceded the nomination of Frank Farrington president of the state senate for governor by the Republicans in Monday's primary. The statewide vote with about 80 small towns missing Farrington 4884 Brewster 47157.
Georgia county officials announce Law & Co. analysis shows calcium arsenate about 43.10 percent arsenic pentoxide, below the state required 46 percent but within dusting standards. Judge James A. Hixon and County Agent Marshall urge farmers to continue using the poison to control the boll weevil, expressing confidence in a good fall crop.
In Milledgeville on Eatonton Road near Little River Tuesday, Sheriff L. Terry W. W. Lundy and J. T. Terry led a raid that found one operating copper still of 160 gallons. The operators escaped. Two more copper stills, over 1000 gallons of beer, two doublers, and assorted equipment were destroyed or confiscated.

Chapin re elected treasurer with no contest. Chesley R. Perry secretary since 1910 faces no opposition.
A Leesburg telephone message reports Lee county’s September 10 primary entries closed at noon. Jule Felton and Stephen Pace qualified for solicitor general, Charles R. Crisp for representative, and Z. A. Littlejohn for Superior Court judge. Felton and Pace lead the only district contest. other races, including county offices and state senator, are noted with rotation rules. Remaining entry deadlines: Macon county July 10, Webster July 15. Sumter, Schley, Stewart have not acted. James A. Davenport plans a Sumter committee meeting around August 7 to decide on a primary and closing dates. State house races will close today per state committee reports.
Atlanta June 21 Former Governor Thomas W B in United States senator Senator W J Harris present incumbent and H Elders of Reidsville for governor in opposition to Clifford Walker were among candidates to qualify for nomination. Dr L G Hardeman of Commerce who considered entering the gubernatorial race abandoned it. Other candidates include S G McLendon for secretary of state George M Napier attorney general William A Wright comptroller general Captain W J Speer state treasurer S Price Gilbert supreme court and T E Patterson state prison commissioner. J J Brown commissioner of agriculture opposed by George F Hunnicut N H Ballard opposed by F E Land K M Stanley commissioner of commerce and labor C E McGreggor opposed by John W Clark J D Price railroad commission opposed by J A Woodruff and John T Boiseuillet opposed by O R Bennett.
The county bread contest at the courthouse office of Miss Bonnie Parkman drew many entrants from Shilor Concord Plains Leslie Pleasant Grove New Era and Thompson. Judge Miss Rosa McGee awarded prizes from first to seventh to Mrs W H Emmet Mrs Wi H Priddy Mrs E E Cook Mrs J J Wilson Miss Della Gyles Mrs Bertha Israel. A cargo boat collided with a United States army around the world plane at Rangoon damaging its wings. Repairs are expected by Monday before the aviators depart for Calcutta via Akyab and Bassein.
Judge Samuel H. Sibley granted a restraining order against enforcement of the Georgia pine straw embargo on Florida grown watermelons, requiring a $10,000 bond for Atlantic Coast Line damages. Bahnsen defended the order citing tick-infested bedding risks and Georgia’s tick eradication program. Hearing set for June 30 or July 1.

Rev. W. C. Flanders presiding elder of the Waycross District of the South Georgia Conference died Tuesday afternoon at Wesley Memorial Hospital after about two months illness. His home was in Waycross and he formerly pastored a Macon church. Funeral services will be held in Ashburn tomorrow.
Clearwater June 21 McDowell the murderer of his entire family was convicted yesterday by a jury recommending mercy and was today sentenced to life imprisonment by Judge McMullen.
