An old style health advert touts Johnsons Tonic as the cure for malaria poisoning and the worlds greatest medicine. It warns against cheap substitutes and urges readers to seek the tonic even at distance for faster relief and life saving benefits.
A 50 year old practitioner with 25 years of practice endorses Johnson's Chill and Fever Tonic. He states it corrects vitiated liver secretions, restores positiveness, and aids digestion, claiming seventeen years on the market and superior curative value at 50 cents per bottle.
A switch engine derailed an incoming Macon to Atlanta passenger train near the Southern shops. Three killed instantly, three fatally crushed, others injured. Names include Mrs. A. A. Lemon and Irma Lemon of McDonough. H H Vickers of Flovilla. Mrs. Julia Kirby of Atlanta. Rescue crews improvised litters from damaged coaches as the scene unfolded around 10 45 AM. The switch engine reportedly moved backward into the moving train after the throttle became unmanageable. Yard Conductor Duncan detained on reports he was near the engine.
Pirrecere June 4 passenger train No 106 known as the Carnegie accommodation collided with an oil tank car in the Tr atreet tunnel. The blaze destroyed the train. nine aboard escaped, one telegraph operator William J Reese slightly burned. Accident blamed on signal error. railroad losses run to thousands.

Bern June 6 Military men in Germany were not surprised by the Vladfontein report. The Boer attack was a surprise and the rear guard of Dixon's force was rushed, two guns captured briefly, then main body rallied. Delarey fought with energy and was repulsed after gaining advantages as talks of peace rumors seem countered. Sixty Britons surrendered at Jamestown.
A cablegram from New York announces the death of Rev. B. W. Parker missionary bishop of the Methodist church for Asia. The report gives few details beyond the notice of his passing and his role, with the standard formal phrasing typical of the period.
A late morning collision in Atlanta involving a McDonough Fort Valley passenger train and an east yard engine left three dead and many injured. Killed were Mrs A A Lemon of McDonough, her eight year old daughter Irma, and H Vickers of Flovilla. Injured include J A Fouche and several residents of McDonough Stockbridge and Atlanta. An arrest of yard conductor G B Dunton is reported as authorities investigate the crash and cause.
A violent incident in Tien Tsin involved British fusiliers attempting to stop French soldiers from housebreaking. French and German troops joined the fight, with 5 fusiliers and 3 others wounded and one Frenchman killed. German officer and guards restored order. Waldersee departs Peking under a military display as Prince Chun prepares to travel to Berlin for an apology over Von Kettler’s assault.
Sensational shooting affray in Monnor North Carolina. Verne Austin and Fred Parham, two white men, fought over a trifling matter. Parham drew and fired three times, wounding him twice. He fled toward English drug store corner and confronted Constable Bivins who pursued. Parham shot at a pursued figure, but Bivins returned fire, wounding Parham in the back. Parham was injured but not fatally. Bivins was not hit.
W H Hunt Porto Rico secretary arrived from San Juan noting conflicting Porto Rican case decisions. He expected free trade with the United States within months. He said after July 1 the island would fund its government through duties and excise taxes and civil government was in sight.
New York reports more than 100 buck et shops have been driven from trade by amendments to the war revenue bill passed last March. City merchants are said to have altered methods to comply with the letter if not the spirit of the law, with revenue collectors noting the widespread impact.
