Scientist's daring trek into Mont Pelee crater deepens crisis
Fort de France May 26 Professor Robert T Hill United States geologist led a perilous expedition into Marque Mont Pelee crater area to inspect new volcanic activity. He walked from Le Precheur to St Pierre, cataloging three destruction zones, ongoing fumaroles, and a fresh sea of active volcanism. He rescued Precheur residents, plans further treks toward Morne Rouge and the craters, despite eruptions potentially resurging at any moment and a feared eight foot tidal wave threatens Fort de France.
