Immigrants to Take Places of Negroes in South
Atlanta June 5 Industrial leaders and agriculturists call for a targeted immigrant campaign to settle Nordic and Swedish and Norwegian farmers in the South. They argue such settlers, well capitalized and experienced in cattle, dairying, and farming, would boost Georgia’s cattle raising and dairy industries, aid rural areas, and counter the Negro exodus. Wilkes County leads local efforts to attract new settlers.
