Cuattanooga June 1 Dr J L D Walker former Des Moines resident and Grand Army of the Republic member and Mason was arrested and denied bail in circuit court on a murder charge. The case involves an alleged fatal incident tied to his activities in the city.
Laxcoty Neb June 1 Boers envoys plan to visit Lincoln on their western trip to interview W J Bryan to learn his national notions if elected president and his possible stance on Boer affairs.
Mack Miller of Snead in Blount County was killed by a bolt of lightning while hoeing in his field. A red mark was noted on the residence and the incident is reported from Gavepey, Alabama, dated June 1. The paper also notes a House debate beginning on a trade amendment without preliminary business.
