In St Charles Missouri a fire gutted a frame cottage occupied by Frank Oberle. Two children perished and their mother was severely burned while a Black passerby saved one child but could not reenter for the others due to fierce flames. The mother also suffered serious burns.
In Valdosta on June 1 a consent verdict ended a long battle in Superior Court between Burrus and Plowden. Heirs receive about 75 percent of their claims, equating to roughly 45 percent of total alleged gifts, totaling just over $20,000. The dispute centered on sizable sums and tight family tensions.

Moultrie merchant A. R. Rogers says crops have been badly damaged by heavy rains over ten days. He reported from Macon that roads from Cordele north are in poor condition due to the downpour.

Heinz of Atlanta as first VP and Douglas J. Scott of Winnipeg as second VP. The group also ordered a constitutional convention to revise its fundamental laws.
In Valdosta Superior Court Bessy Lambert pled guilty to two burglary counts. Claude Kitchin former Democratic leader in the house lay in state at his home in Scotland Neck North Carolina on June 11. The funeral will be held soon and he will be interred beside his father in the Baptist cemetery.

Eleven Sparks College students, including Francis Brewton of Americus, were licensed to preach in the Valdosta district of the South Georgia conference of the M E Church South. The district conference in Sparks May 29-31 approved the licenses, announced by Rev. J C G Brooks presiding elder.
Gordon Feagin a post office clerk in Americus lost seven ten dollar bills totaling 70 dollars this morning. The money vanished from his pocket between the post office and his Prince street home through a hole in the pocket.
The Tabernacle Baptist church in Macon will celebrate its freedom from debt on the church building Sunday night at eight. A large bonfire on the church lawn will burn the mortgage, with a special program and multiple musical numbers planned for the event by the congregation.
Robert E. Turner Jr of Norfolk Virginia has been appointed business manager of the Tribune-Herald in Rome and has assumed duties. He is son of Robert E Turner Sr longtime general manager of the Virginia Pilot. Turner Jr has worked at the Pilot in various roles and knows all newspaper departments.

May business activity in Macon climbed about 50 percent from a year earlier. Bank reports show total debits to individual accounts reaching 27,265,267.60 dollars, the highest May figure on record, compared with 18,114,343.27 dollars last year.
Macon Ga June 1 six white women were arrested at a Broadway hotel by detectives Stevens and Fann. Frieda Waters faced charges of license violation and operating a disorderly house while Verna Brown Ruby Smith May Stevens and Nora Bailey were charged with loitering.
