Brooke Sails to Aid Miles in Porto Rico Campaign

General Brooke sails from Newport News to join General Miles near Porto Rico as U S forces move to reinforce the assault on San Juan. The St Louis heads toward Porto Rico with headquarters aboard the St Paul. additional troops aboard Chickamauga and from Hampton Roads are to follow. The Fifth Cavalry travels from Tampa to Porto Rico amid preparations for the attack.

Floating Dock Secured For Navy Use

Chief Endicott reports the navy has bought a 2200 ton floating drydock capable of lifting most gunboats and auxiliary vessels. The dock, single piece and towable, will head first to Key West for a suitable site before wider deployment. The War Department plans to ship regiments from Tampa to Puerto Rico as part of immediate operations.
