Porto Rican expedition sails from Port Tampa

Tampa July 23. The first Porto Rican expedition from Port Tampa will sail before night aboard the transport Mohawk Decatur H Miller Whitney Cherokee and Florida carrying commissary supplies ammunition and men The units include Eleventh and Nineteenth Infantry First and Tenth Cavalry eight batteries of artillery three regiments of volunteer infantry and Second Ohio cavalry Cavalry dismounted horses left for later arrival. artillery includes heavy and light pieces. Other notes cover cavalry orders to Newport News and a naval war board conference with President. Montery expected Aug 3 or 4 at Manila and Monadnock about a week later.
