Sumter chamber to stage annual fair Sept 25 29
The Americas and Sumter County Chamber of Commerce fixed September 25 to 29 for Sumter’s annual agricultural and industrial fair. Plans call for large community displays with prizes from 150 dollars to 25 dollars, plus 100 75 50 for the club department and 100 for the women’s department. A special negro exhibit section will be added, with demonstrations for negro farmers and residents during listed hours.

Boy Crushed By Moving Truck Near Selma
In Selma Alabama 13 year old John Wesley son of Mrs Annie Wesley is fatally injured after being run over by an ice delivery truck on Pleasant Hill road. He jumped on and off the moving vehicle near the R D Sturdivant home and suffered severe chest injuries. He is at King Memorial Hospital in critical condition with lungs badly crushed and expected to die. The truck owned by Owen Preston and driven by Raymond Powers was involved in the accident.
