Funeral of Max Littlejohn Draws Large Americus Crowd
In Americus a vast funeral procession formed a record turnout as mourners gathered to bid farewell to Max Littlejohn. Dr Bascom Anthony of First Methodist Church conducted the rites at the family home, pallbearers included Harris Council Hinton Brown Ernest Tullis Watt Markett Edgar Shipp and Jas Fort, with the service ending at Oakgrove Cemetery. Emblems of mourning adorned the county courthouse as officials attended the exercises.

Miss Louise Worrill of Cuthbert, daughter of Judge W C Worrill, died from an accidental rifle discharge in Americus. She had just spoken with family members when she went to fetch a rifle to shoot a bird. A rag in the barrel and a raised hammer caused the cartridge to fire, piercing her heart.

Liberal county gift completes Sumter Hospital ownership
The Sumter County Board of Commissioners appropriated five hundred dollars to the Americas Hospital on Monday, finalizing the payment and transferring full ownership to a committee of local ladies who manage the hospital.
