Rejected lover Brower won $75 and costs from Eva M Selleck Curtis before marriage to Dr John J Curtis. Justice Dooley dismissed wine and luxury items, totaling nearly $100 with costs. Dr Brewer, represented by A J Gray, vows to press for the full amount. Dr and Mrs Curtis were present at the verdict.
Ex governor Richardson's funeral drew crowds to Trinity Episcopal Church in Columbia, with state officials closing the statehouse and Camp Hampton veterans attending. The service was led by Rev. W. E. Evans. After rites, the casket was moved to the Jerome Hotel for transfer to Camden for burial.
