Hollins Plan Meeting Fails to Form Quorum in New York
New York July 5 delegates from the Georgia Central reorganization committees and road directors met at Hollins & Co. Col C H Phinizy H M Comer and E P Howell represented the directors. A quorum was not present and the old plan of organization was said to be abandoned. The storm damaged crops and buildings across the county including a lightning strike on the Plains telegraph office and a newly built Methodist church at Leslie. Memorial Day services by Knights of Pythias were held at Oak Grove cemetery but attendance was curtailed by thunder.

Lyons town lot sale draws crowded turnout and bids high
A large crowd attended the Lyons town lot sale on Tuesday with over 2 000 people present. The sale total approached 1 5000 dollars as bidders stayed lively. Separate trainloads from Savannah and the city boosted attendance and activity. City Engineer G M Eldridge and Mr J H Hagerty won the contract to prepare water works plans and specifications, with work started immediately and expected completion by week’s end.
