Americus Georgia sits as the county seat of sums of Sumter County. It lies at the junction of major rail lines including the Central Savannah and Western and the Banannas Americus and Montgomery lines, about nine miles from Vienna and near Thomasville. Mrs Heidemann learns her husband Molde Mann Heidemann survived a Fernandina Fla drowning after being carried out to sea. He was rescued by a passing ship bound for New Orleans and reached that port after a week at sea. He writes of the escape and plans to return to Americus.
